Brunel is currently searching for an Exploration Manager - Geologist to join our client’s team in upstate New York just outside of the of Gouverneur, New York.

As the Exploration Manager - Geologist on the team, you will be assessing and analyzing geological data in order to advise on exploration plans. Plan, coordinate and execute the surface drilling program. You will be responsible for the ($2M) budget and monthly reporting.

About this role

DUTIES:

  • Performs surface mapping, core logging, chip logging, conducts rock chip sampling or soil surveys.
  • Managing and interpretation of all geological data (e.g. rock type, alteration, and structure), assay, and mineralogical data.
  • Works with a team of geologists by interpreting downhole geologic data on sections.
  • Supervise and direct exploration activities and personnel in the field and office, including contractors, core technicians, and data administrators.
  • May be required to make regular visits to drill rigs to communicate with drill services.
  • Utilize drill hole database to log efficiently to ensure all sample intervals are accurate and ensures standards and blanks are inserted at the proper frequency.
  • Travel to project sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About you

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a closely related field required.
  • 10+ years minimum experience in field.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • MSHA surface miner (24hr)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. (Core Boxes, RC samples)
  • Computer skills for downloading data, data collection, experience with 3D modeling Leapfrog, Vulcan, and Microsoft Software.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with leadership experience to manage a team
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Effective communication with all members on the project and the exploration team and the board.
  • Effective public speaking and professional writing skills for presenting of exploration plans and budget reporting to the board.
  • Experience with managing and writing 43-101 technical reports.
  • Geological and resource modeling required.
  • Able to wear and demonstrate to employees the use of personal protective equipment including hardhat, steel toed footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves (rubber, leather & cloth), and/or any other equipment required to do the job assigned safely.
  • Ability to relocate to Northern NY near site location.
  • Must be able to travel to site within the Western U.S. and Canada. Approximately 10% travel.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship
