CAD Drafter

About this role

The Designer/Draftsperson required to provide design expertise in support of various initiatives and projects. Incumbent will use 2D and 3D tools, primarily Solidworks, to develop or improve process equipment and facilities.
Responsibilities
Develop concepts, detailed drawings and models of considerable complexity using specifications, calculations and vendor data;

Prepare preliminary and/or final design layouts and associated documentation in accordance with approved standards, policies and procedures

Ensure technical quality and accuracy of project work;

Prepare work estimates and participate in planning activities and progress meetings as required;

Assist with prototyping and assembly activities and advise on corrective action to resolve design problems;

Work closely with engineering, purchasing, production, and other teams to ensure design work meets requirements;

Evaluate and suggest improvements to product designs and design/drafting processes.

About you

Requirements
Technologist Diploma (3 years) in mechanical or other appropriate technology6-8 years directly related experience;
Proficiency in use of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications;Three (3) or more years’ experience in use of SolidWorks computer aided design tool;
Three (3) or more years’ experience in use of AutoCAD as 2D computer aided design tool;Understanding of PDM and configuration management concepts;
Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems;Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, CSA & ANSI drawing standards;
Excellent communication skills.
